Ahn Hyo-seop Talks ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ and First English Role on Park Bo-gum’s Show

Actor Ahn Hyo Seop made his first-ever appearance on a music program, sharing heartfelt stories and behind-the-scenes experiences from his role in Netflix’s global animated hit KPop Demon Hunters during the July 11 episode of The Seasons – Park Bo-gum‘s Cantabile on KBS 2TV.
In the “Passion UP” special episode featuring stars like Jung Yong-hwa, g0nny, and HITGS, Ahn opened up about voicing Jin-woo, marking his first time acting in English. “I was really nervous because it was my first time acting in English, but it was also fun,” he said. “I love animation, so witnessing the production process—even acting with just illustrations or hearing my co-actor’s pre-recorded lines—was fascinating.”

Host Park Bo-gum, praising Ahn’s work, recalled seeing him at the Baeksang Arts Awards and joked about his visuals: “Seeing you up close is like looking at a figurine.” To break the ice, they did a 10-second eye contact challenge that ended with Ahn laughing and joking, “Why is it so hot today?”

Known for dramas like Dr. Romantic, Business Proposal, and A Time Called You, Ahn also showcased his musical talents by performing live versions of “Gathering My Tears,” “You in My Arms,” and “Thanks,” with Park Bo-gum accompanying him on the piano. With a background as a former JYP trainee, Ahn modestly explained, “I perform about 10 songs at fan meetings, but you’ve done even more concerts than I have.”

Looking ahead, Ahn is preparing for the July 23 release of his first film, Omniscient Reader: The Prophet, starring alongside Lee Min-ho, Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, Nana, and Jisoo. “Around 70–80% of the film involves CGI,” he shared. “Most of it was shot in front of a blue screen, so I’m also curious to see how it turns out.” From his charming variety debut to his bold step into English voice acting, Ahn Hyo-seop continues to captivate fans with both his versatility and humility.
